The object of the Legion of Mary is the Glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active involvement in the Apostolate

The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin in 1921 and now is present in 176 countries, worldwide. One of the local groups – a Praesidium, in Legion terms – has been in existence for over 80 years. We are well established in Rathmines Parish. Our founder, the Servant of God Frank Duff, lived in the Parish in Dartmouth Square, at one time.

We visit homes in the Parish with information about Mass times and other Parish organisations and help to promote The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association and the sale of Catholic newspapers, each Sunday. We also aim to support to the Priests of the Parish in every way we may be of help.

We also hold a discussion Group on the second Thursday of the month, known as the Patricians, And we also meet as a group once a week, at 8.15pm, on Mondays at St Joseph’s, 191 Rathgar Road (Opposite Esso garage)and are open to all Catholics.
